Al Reef School for Basic Education
Behavioral Values and Teachers’ Wellbeing
Al Reef School for Basic Education launched an initiative on “Promoting Behavioral Values”, as part of the Student and Family pillar in the Well Schools Network. The initiative is designed to instill and strengthen positive behavioral values in students. In this spirit, the school would choose and promote a positive behavioral value each week through a range of awareness tools. The initiative helped to encourage positive behaviors among female students and shaped positive personalities.
In the Teachers’ pillar, the school launched the “Teachers’ Wellbeing” initiative, which aims to enhance the wellbeing of the teaching staff using a variety of tools. Those include personal and social development courses and programs, appreciation accolade that recognize teachers’ efforts, as well as surveys to compile teachers’ views and identify job-related stress and the appropriate suggestions to tackle it. It also engaged students in a plan to select positive slogans to greet teachers at the beginning of each week. The initiative managed to help teachers deal positively with work-related pressures, spread positivity in the school environment, increase motivation among teachers and promoted positive and effective communication between school staff. All of this reflected positively on female students.
Within the Society pillar, the school also launched “The Values Heritage Club” initiative. A variety of interactive workshops and activities were organized with the aim of developing students’ life skills and promoting a spirit of community and volunteer contribution. Other activities were related to Emirati customs and heritage, all of which were organized in participation with community institutions. The initiative witnessed significant interaction between students and achieved impressive results in enhancing positive social values among students and instilling in them the spirit of cooperation and volunteer work.
Huda Jassim Jumaa Al Hosani from Al Reef School for Basic Education said in this regard: “Positive education is an important tool to shape students' personalities. This prompted us to join the Well Schools Network, which was launched by the National Program for Happiness and wellbeing, to make a positive impact on our students and to leverage positive education tools to inculcate students with positive values and life skills. Our initiatives have yielded a wide range of benefits and we look forward to achieving additional results by adopting other initiatives that support the network’s pillars, which focus on Student and Family, Teachers, School Environment and Society ".
