Al Nouf Elementary School
Enhancing Leadership Skills and Communication between Students and Teachers
Al Nouf Elementary School has launched an initiative titled “My Responsibility- For Leading Female Students”, as part of the Student and Family and Teachers pillars within the Well Schools Network. The school provided its female students with life and leadership skills training. It also acquainted them with the optimal ways to assume responsibility via a set of streamlined administrative tasks that would enhance female students' awareness of the nature of work performed by the school’s administrative and teaching staff.
The initiative achieved positive results by enhancing female students’ self-confidence and their ability to provide assistance. It also instilled a positive spirit in female students by encouraging cooperation and assistance and promoted relations between students and teachers via joint work that requires greater interaction and dialogue. Moreover, the initiative nurtured positive behaviors in female students, which prompted parents to extend their thanks to the school for this initiative, which enhanced students’ wellbeing and promoted the concept of positive education within the school community.
The school also launched the “How to Please my Teacher?” initiative, as part of the Teachers’ pillar within the Well Schools Network. The initiative aims at enhancing social ties between students and teachers and developing dialogue skills of female students. Panel discussions were held between students and teachers to answer a question about teachers’ aspirations for their students. Then, students endeavored to achieve these aspirations, which included positive behaviors and personal and educational initiatives. The initiative had significant impact on students and increased their awareness of teachers’ requirements. It also promoted effective communication between students and teachers, which reflected positively on students’ psychological state.
Commenting about these initiatives, Sabiha Khalifa Dalmouk, Principal of Al Nouf Elementary School in Sharjah said: “Joining the Well Schools Network, which was launched by the National Program for Happiness and Wellbeing, has had a significant impact on the quality of the initiatives we offer to our female students. We have focused on developing leadership and dialogue skills of students, in addition to enhancing effective communication between students and their teachers. This yielded impressive results by strengthening and developing our students’ life skills. During the next period, we will be working on initiatives that promote a healthy lifestyle and interaction with parents, in order to engage them in the positive education process, according to the pillars of the Well Schools Network.”
