Al Mawaheb Secondary Model School
Planning for the Future
Al Mawaheb Secondary Model School has implemented a set of initiatives based on the pillars of the Well Schools Network. In line with Student and Family pillar, the school launched an initiative titled “My life is meaningful”. The initiative is designed to motivate female students to rely on themselves and building their personality based on several clear and specific measures and events, to acquire various skills needed for their future life. This would contribute to nurture a positive, active and productive personality within society and the family.
The initiative included several activities, notably a personal planning workshop, IQ tests, character analysis and academic orientation fairs to help students decide their future disciplines. The initiative allowed students to discover their potentials, promote the value of responsibility and ways to positively invest time and effort by establishing a personal plan.
As part of the School Environment pillar defined by the Well Schools Network, the school has launched the “My school, a green paradise” initiative, which aims at promoting environmental awareness. The initiative featured a set of tools and activities, such as an environmental camp, organizing a series of environmental competitions for female students, engaging mothers and organizing an orientation course on agriculture.
Commenting on the school’s participation, Shamsa Al Shamsi, Administrative Assistant at Al Mawaheb Secondary Model School said: “We have implemented numerous activities and events that serve the four pillars of the Well Schools Network. The guidelines established by the National Program for Happiness and Wellbeing in this regard have helped us to design efficient initiatives that contribute to instill positivity in students. The Personal planning program featured in the ‘My life is meaningful’ initiative has also enhanced students’ awareness of the importance of personal planning, which is as important as other academic skills.”
